hoo of the owl fills the empty sky space |
| of
morning. |
| An echo
answer makes more sense to me than my dreams, |
| and it is
more restful to awaken than to sleep again. |
| I wait the
eternity until soft light enters |
| and
defines the furniture, |
| and the
dog stirs. |
| This is
the best time of day, |
| when only
animal sounds |
| disturb
me. |
| I go over
my itinerary for the next hour or so, |
| and even
if I doze again, |
| I am at
ease, |
| and I am
ready for the promise of a new day to fill, |
| for the
owl |
| and the
dog |
| have
advised me well. |
